Ready To Buy A Home In The Greensboro Area

Published on November 24, 2014 by Smith Marketing

Buying a home in Greensboro requires thoughtful planning and decision making. Whether you’re becoming a homeowner for the first time or you’re a repeat buyer, purchasing a home is a financial and emotional decision that requires the experience and support of a team of reliable professionals at Smith Marketing in Greensboro.

Why Do You Want to Buy?

The emotional part of the decision comes into play when you think about why you want to move. If you’re a first-time buyer, you need stability in your career and the ability to commit to living in the same community for five to seven years. Perhaps you want to establish roots in a neighborhood and look forward to decorating as you please without requiring a landlord’s permission.

Choosing a Neighborhood When Buying A Home

Any Smith Marketing realtor will share the mantra, location, location, location when talking about the attributes that help a home hold its value and potentially appreciate. However, no one neighborhood is right for every buyer. Determining which community in the greater Greensboro area that meets your needs and your budget requires research and some soul searching about your priorities.

Establish Your Priorities

Before one of our realtors can begin to help you look for a home, you and your spouse or partner should develop a list of needs and wants. For some buyers, the home itself is of paramount importance: they want a particular style or size or a big yard. For others, the neighborhood is more important. If you have an unlimited budget you may be able to find the perfect home in a desirable neighborhood, but since most buyers need to meet a budget, you may have to compromise on either the house or the community.

But you may also like the charm, the canopy of trees that drape over the sleepy neighborhood streets, and the increasing value of an existing home you’ve been eying.

Here are some things you’ll want to ponder as you decide which route to take.
